I read a lot about music, and surf a lot of music online. My life is music. Should music artist copyright their music? Youtube is the worst. People use others music in videos with a notation "I do not own the copyright to this music ...." They don't even contact the artist for permission, or add a link to their music for sale, or anything. I never use anyone's music in my podcast without prior consent. It's just not right, plus I don't want a lawsuit. I also saw a post in here that stated "red bull stole my music" Another reason why you should copyright your music. austintexas.proboards.com/thread/3493/page/1/red-bull-stole-guys-musicIf your music is not copyrighted may I suggest go through the process and get it copyrighted. It is not that complicated, and not that expensive. The last time I had to do it the cost was $30.00 for a complete album. The easiest way is to copyright multiple songs at once. Not just an individual song. It is much cheaper that way and serves the same purpose which is to prove it's yours. It cost the same to copyright one song as it does to copyright multiple songs. Name it your anthology, or the best of, or something similar and submit as many songs as allowed. Granted I haven't had to submit any in years but I am sure the fees and rules are pretty much the same. It takes quite some time to go through the process but all we have is time. At least think about it. www.copyright.govwww.copyright.gov/docs/fees.htmlwww.copyright.gov/forms/www.copyright.gov/help/faq/
